Don’t lose your fitness gains over the Holiday

The Christmas season is upon us, how do we find the time for our work outs and exercises? With all the Christmas parties, nights out with old friends returning for the Holidays, and family get together’s, not to mention the shopping and kids Holiday season programs at school. Usually the first thing that gets tossed is your work-out time. According to Angie Ferguson in the news press.com, “It is paramount you maintain your fitness program” during the Holiday season.

During the Holiday season you must commit to continuing your workouts to retain the gains you have made. This is done by simply reducing your workouts to a maintenance level. You will be working out to maintain your recent gains, so your workout times should be reduced. If you run or cycle four times a week reduce it to two times a week. If your weight training consists of heavy and lite workouts, you can eliminate the lite days and use them as recovery days. Additionally, you can reduce your normal routines to two or three sets instead of four, this will make the workouts less time consuming and help assure that you maintain your prior progress. With that said you must still maintain the quality of each workout, and work all the muscle groups.

Remember, any exercise is better than none. With that we wish you a ” MERRY CHRISTMAS”.
